Davis Lake Oregon Fire

Having a good bout of cabin fever last Sunday I drove  to Davis Lake to view for myself the results of the July, 2003 21,000 acre Davis fire which started at Davis Lake.  The Central Oregon Arson Task Force, investigating the fire,  determined the blaze was human caused.

The North Lava camp is accessible although there is no boat ramp at this site and the lake appears to be at an extremely  low level.  According to the latest April 21 report by the Oregon Deparment of Fish and Wildlife the road into West Davis will be open April 30th. I did, unknowingly, find my way in to the  West Davis area and took some pictures which I have included.  They are logging the West Davis campground and cleaning it up but the surrounding area is nothing but standing dead timber.
