Our winter trip in 2002 to Casa Blanca and Playa Blanca Lodge was so much fun we packed up and went back to check out the flats fishing in the summer. Yea, it is hot but the days are long and the flats are teeming with fish. We fished for 5 days at Playa Blanca on Bahia Espirito de Santos, the big bay below Ascension Bay and a couple days on Ascension Bay. We landed a bunch of bonefish, some quite large, a couple dozen baby tarpon, a couple that went 40 pounds, twenty snook, up to 14 pounds and some big jacks. The food was world class as usual. I gained five pounds, about average for a good trip. Fruit plates, snapper and lobster are but a few of the fantastic food options available. Playa Blanca has bikes that we road to tailing bonefish and cruising permit plus kayaks, canoes, good swimming and the Mayan ruin right behind the lodge. As usual the staff, connections, rooms and evening parties were as good as it gets. On our website, there are 80 images of our trip starting with a snook fishing adventure. Hiking through the jungle and crossing several lagoons was half the fun. |
