Our new Andes Lodge will be ready for November 2008.

It is strategically located on the banks from the Chimehuin River, very close to the famous “Boca del Chimehuin”, now declared Trout Sanctuary by the Province of Neuquen. 

  The Chimehuin River was first known to International Anglers when Joe Brooks did a few TV shows for the North American Television in the early 60’s.

It showed the huge brown trout that were caught by the few fly fishermen who ventured to Patagonia when the name wasn’t even possible to pronounce.

  The first 5 miles of the Chimehuin River is spawning ground for large migratory brown, rainbow and recently Atlantic landlocked salmon.

Most anglers visiting the area get open mouthed at the sighting of large trout resting in their predictable lies while overlooking the river from the bridge on the mouth or the high banks from “Devil’s throat” pool. 

  The whole river holds nice sized trout from its mouth on Lake Huechulafquen to its confluence with the Alumine River some 80 kms away.

  “Our” part of the river is located 6 km from the Boca and 16 km for the town of Junin de los Andes, 30 minutes from San Martin de los Andes Airport and 45 minutes to the Chilean border.

  We are within 10 to 45 minutes drive to the best rivers in the Area like the Malleo, Quillen, Alumine, Collon Cura, Traful, Quilquihue, Caleufu, Limay, etc and lakes Huechulafquen, Tromen, Curruhe, Quillen, Alumine, Traful, etc.  All this rivers and lakes hold large populations of trout, large and small.  We are also located in the boundaries of Parque Nacional Lanin, with sights of Lanin Volcano and the Andes range. 

  The Lodge will have occupancy for 8 anglers in double occupancy but will have single occupancy availability.  All rooms overlook the Chimehuin Rver and you can fly fish for trophy trout right out of the Lodge. 

  Andes Lodge will also be home of Mapuche Kids fly fishing school.  We are sponsoring 5 kids from the area to teach them fly fishing, English language, conservationism and other skills so they can become fly fishing guides or Park Rangers that will take them and their families from poverty  (help needed)

  Season runs from November 1st to May 1st with the exception of the mid Chimehuin River, Alicura and Pichi Picun Leufu Reservoirs which are open all year round.
