Lake Mille Lacs - February 21st, 2007
supplied by: Rocky Reef Resort
FISHING: Poor
Well, with all of the bad weather on its way, I have decided to pull most of my houses this week.
I have been caught more than once on the last weekend of the season, not this year man. The weather is going to be very warm and the rain and snow is supposed to be coming in on Friday. I will have out the 4 big houses and a couple of the 4 holers for the weekend. Other wise you are out of luck if you want to rent a smaller house this weekend. The perch are finally starting to group up in small schools, it will not be long and they will be all schooled up in big schools. I have been kicking around the thought of not doing the fish houses anymore.

It has been a long 18 years in the business and I am getting very tired of battling Mother Nature. My son Jonathan has been asking me if he could take it over. We will see what happens with the selling off of all of the cabins and the RV lots, goes this spring. If I can get out of it all, I think that I will. I will no longer be posting on any other web sites, I am sick of them censoring or even deleting my posts all together, because they do not like what I have to say. That is fine by me. There will never be any censoring of anything on my site. So this is the only place to get it.

If you dont like my posts, then dont read them. That is all I have to say about that. I will not be posting on here anymore either if I get too much slack about, what I feel or dont feel. I have to wear way too many masks in my life; I refuse to wear any masks on my posts. I think that that is the only way to be, straight up. This has been one hell of a journey in this business, with all of the Native American issues and the DNR issues. If I had it to do all over again, I dont think, that even with all of the pressures of the changing slot limits, and the increase of property taxes and the decrease of people using lake Mille Lacs the past 7 to 9 years, that we would do it any differently. It really is about the journey and the dream.

The dream has been achieved and the journey is just about over for this phase in our lives. We are so thankful that we were able to raise our kids in an environment that allowed us to be here when they left and be here for them, when they got home. That was my main reason for moving everyone up here from the twin cities 18 years ago. Well they have both grown into fine young men and Joseph will be graduating this spring and is off to collage in the fall. It is also time for Patty and me, to start a new chapter in our lives, to start a new journey of our own. It will be very different from what we are use to doing here, but I think that it is time for a new beginning. We would like to also thank, all of you that were a huge part of our lives, for so many years. Without you, there could be no us in this business.

For that we are eternally grateful. I will be posting the plat map and the other documents for the sale of the lots, as soon as it is a done deal with the county. I already have realtors in place, to start selling them, as soon as we get the ok. So if you are seriously interested in owning apiece of the Rock, let me know ASAP. I do not think that they will be for sale very long. It is a beautiful place to be on the lake, and there is nowhere that you can get this close to the lake. I mean nowhere.

Not to mention, I will be just be two addresses up the road, at our new house that we bought this past year, so that I can still hang with my buddies that I have accumulated over 18 years in the resort business. The bar and the restaurant, along with the house and the fish house business, will also be for sale. Keep your eyes open every few days on the site. I am shooting for the 1st of April for the sale of the lots.

Be safe

We will see you in the spring.

Grand Rapids Deer River Area - September 21st, 2004

Grand Rapids Winnie fishing report 9-21-04

Wow what a weird year we are having august weather in September and had September weather in august, only in Minnesota. The weather and the large amount of baitfish have made the fishing a bit tough around here for awhile. Some fish are still in the deep parts of the humps on lakes like winnie, trout, sand and bowstring but the majority of the fish are in the shallows next to the weeds. Winnie has been alittle tough with occasional good bites going on. Cutffot has been a bit better. Sand has been ok with fish being caught on the humps and on the shoreline. Bowstring is ok again some deep some shallow and trout is the same way. Maybe with this cooler temps coming our way things will kick into full gear soon here.

The crappies are still in the deep water but after getting beat up for the past couple three weeks they aren’t going quite as well it’s a hit or miss thing any more. Cutfoot, bowstring, sand splithand pokie, the river between the dams are all good bets to look for the crappies.

Good luck fishing
