Sacramento River - Lower - March 8th, 2010
supplied by: Sac River Outfitters RECORDED:64 °FISHING: Great
The flows on the Lower Sac are down to 3,250 CFS and the water is finally starting to clear after a few much needed rain showers. With very little pressure and prime conditions, this is the perfect time of year to target big fish and 20+ inch rainbows are not uncommon. The trout are eating attractor patterns and caddis when they can see them. Some fish have been keying in on smaller mayfly patterns and the spring caddis have started to show in big numbers bringing dry fly opportunities into the mix.

Sacramento River - Upper - March 8th, 2010
supplied by: Sac River Outfitters RECORDED:56 °FISHING: Good
The Upper Sac is a little high with the recent rains and snow melt. It should be back in shape in a few weeks, so be ready to throw to some hungry fish. When nymphing, use extra weight to get those bugs down in the water column. If you aren't touching bottom from time to time, then you are not fishing deep enough.

Pit River - March 8th, 2010
supplied by: Sac River Outfitters RECORDED:59 °FISHING: Good
Although the Pit River is a difficult piece of water to wade, this little gem can be very rewarding. The early spring months can be great and we are already seeing a decent caddis hatch with some fish willing to eat on the surface. Need to get out and breathe some fresh mountain air? The Pit is the place to do it, and you can hook some nice fish in the process. There are road closures on the upper end, I suggest hitting the Pit 5 stretch around Big Bend.

Trinity River - March 8th, 2010
supplied by: Sac River Outfitters RECORDED:55 °FISHING: Great
The Trinity River is currently flowing at 300 CFS out of Lewiston Dam and the steelhead fishing has been good to great. We are starting to see a lot of down run fish, but there are some hot wild fish still around for those who want to chase them. It takes work, but when you hook a hot wild steelie, there is nothing better.
Hot Bugs: PT's 16, 18 Hairs Ears 14, 16 Stone flies size 10-16 Red Headed Stepchild 16, Eggs, Rubberlegs, Olive Caddis 14, 16 and copper Johns of all shape and colors. River flows
Yuba River - March 8th, 2010
supplied by: Sac River Outfitters RECORDED:62 °FISHING: Good
The Yuba has been good to great the past couple of weeks. This river can really turn on one day and leave you scratching your head the next. There have been a mixture of caddis and March Browns getting the fish to eat.

Lake Siskiyou - February 24th, 2010
supplied by: SC Guide Service RECORDED:45 °FISHING: Good Monday my Dad and I fished Lake Siskiyou in Mt Shasta and found the Trout bite to be pretty good. I say the bite was pretty good, but only in one area of the Lake. The hotspot was in front of the boat ramp in 20 to 45 feet of water. Trout were biting really good rite there. We picked up a few random fish from other areas on the Lake but not a consistent bite. Trolling Seps dodgers with either a small piece of crawler, or a Seps trolling fly (olive green) worked well, we also used a system 1 kokanee dodger matched with a beaded spinner in sparkle green made by Fish with Gary Tackle company to land a few. Trolling slowly, 1 mph, in an S pattern was the key to getting bit.
Klamath River - February 21st, 2010
supplied by: SC Guide Service RECORDED:55 °FISHING: Good All the elements for a great day on the river came together yesterday. The Sun was out all day reaching 55 degrees allowing us to fish until dusk. We were one 3 boats on the river, but we were able to fish in near isolation, from start to finish. The Steelhead finally woke up from their winter slumber, allowing us to land 7 nice fish, each one putting up a good battle, on our ultra light 6 pound gear. We got bit using a variety of methods throughout the day; flies under an indicator, back trolling the crawdad plug, and bouncing a threaded night crawler on the bottom. The key to getting bit was fishing each area slow and making multiple passes thru each hole or slot. The Steely Trout were much friskier when we made solid hook ups, we had 4 Steelhead that broke water shook their heads and spit our offerings back at us. At the end of the day that is what we all ask for when we go fishing; good weather, biting fish, and excellent company.
McCloud Reservoir - November 7th, 2009
supplied by: SC Guide Service RECORDED:55 °FISHING: Excellent The day did not look promising as we dropped the boat into McCloud Reservoir. As soon as we rolled into the launching area and began prepping the boat to drop it into the water, Mother Nature let loose, so for the first few hours, we trolled for brown trout in a steady rain. We went 1 for 3 on the browns while trolling k-7 kwikfish between 30 and 40 feet deep. The weather began to break and we were blessed for the rest of the day with cloud cover and some spotty sun, as well as excellent fishing. We moved out into the main body of the lake and began trolling Seps dodger with worm trailers and for rest of the day we had either had a bite or a fish on. Bill Bob and John landed close to 30 Trout on day of those 20 something Trout 3 were Browns, which was the goal of the trip from the start. The guys went 3 for 6 on Browns none of which were real big, but we did have a couple they looked good but didn’t stay hooked. McCloud is low but full of hungry Trout and as long as the snow does not build up and block the road it will be great fishing.
