supplied by: SC Guide Service

Conner and I Fished Lake Siskiyou, Sunday (11/16) afternoon and caught a few Trout for the BBQ, we trolled a Sep's dodgers with a worm trailer very slow in in the west end of the lake. Fishing is pretty easy if you use that set up and troll in an S pattern at 1mph or slower. We grilled the Trout with some lemon juice and a little pepper they came out very tasty and fresh.

Klamath River - November 16th, 2008
supplied by: SC Guide Service
RECORDED:    68 °   FISHING: Excellent
This past week I fished clients on the Klamath River. On Monday (Nov. 10), I took Abby, a Yreka native, and she landed over a dozen Steelhead/Trout, the biggest going about 2 plus pounds. On Saturday (Nov. 15), I fished Dave and Debra Tresch of Long Beach and they landed 20 fish, combined. Both days this week, we used a combination of glowbug flies (fished under and indicator), plugs (hotshots & crawdads) and worms to hook all our fish. I have been drifting from the Hatchery at Irongate Dam down to the Klamathon Bridge. The weather could not have been more perfect this week with morning temps in the high 30's and warming to near 70 in the afternoon. I am most happy when I can row the boat in shorts and a tee-shirt and to be able to that this time of year is awesome. This is one of the best time of the year to come fishing on the Klamath River, no crowds, excellent weather and plenty of hungry Trout and Steelhead to keep you busy. If you are looking to take a mess of Trout home for dinner McCloud Reservoir and Lake Siskiyou are excellent places to fish as well. Limiting out on a combination of Brook, Brown and Rainbow Trout is the norm. Hope to hear from you, FISH ON!!

supplied by: Sac River Outfitters
RECORDED:    60 °   FISHING: Great
The flows on the Lower Sac are currently at 6,000 CFS and will be dropping to 5,400 CFS by November 7th. The most productive area has been from Redding down to Anderson, with decent reports below the Anderson area. There are plenty of salmon in the system to keep those fish on the egg bite. The lower floats below Anderson have produced a few hook ups with steelhead as well.

Recent rains have brought the flows up just a bit and fishing has been decent with rubberlegs and stones being the bug of choice. There are still some October Caddis hatching in the afternoons as well. Remember to use enough weight to get down to the fish. If you are not touching the bottom every once in awhile, then add more weight.

McCloud River - November 14th, 2008
supplied by: Sac River Outfitters
RECORDED:    48 °   FISHING: Good
If you are looking for wonderful scenery and prime trout water, the McCloud is it. Unfortunatly, PG@E has really messed with the flows this season and it looks like the lower stretches of river will be unfishable for the rest of the season. Try fishing the Upper McCloud where flows have been better.

Hot Bugs:  Pt's size 12-18,  Hogan's S & M size 16, King Prince 16,  Fox's Poo-pah olive size 16, midges olive and black, golden stones 12-16.

McCloud Reservoir - November 4th, 2008
supplied by: SC Guide Service
RECORDED:    42 °   FISHING: Excellent
The cold rainy weather has not slowed the Trout bite at McCloud Reservoir at all. I took my son Conner fishing on Sunday and we caught and released 20 Rainbow Trout in a few hours of fishing. We caught all the Trout trolling a Seps dodger with a worm trailer. The key to getting bit is going slow (1mph or less) and trolling in an S pattern. Most of the Trout we landed were fat 14 to 16-inchers, we did land a few that were close to 18 inches, and lost a couple that were over 20-inches.

The Klamath River is fishing well for Steelhead now that the Salmon are spawning, glowbugs under an indicator, sidedrifting or bouncing roe, hotshot and worms will catch fish. The rain has not muddied the river and it is flowing at 1350cfs so now is the time to go.
