June Lake Loop - September 20th, 2005
supplied by: Sierra Drifters - Guide Service
FISHING: Good
Rush Creek is in excellent shape and the area between Grant and Silver has a reputation of being one of the best fall brown trout fisheries in this area.  Streamers will get you larger fish.  All the lakes here are well stocked and tubers are enjoying some excellent action on planted fish during the afternoon snap.

You can pick up our guide flies at the following stand out locations: The Bridgeport Lake Marina in Bridgeport, The Crowley Lake Fish Camp and the Crowley Lake General Store and Deli in Crowley, The Troutfitter/Trout Fly in Mammoth Lakes, Malibu Fish’N Tackle in Thousand Oaks, The San Diego Fly Shop and Stroud’s Tackle in San Diego and the Fishermen’s Spot in Van Nuys. There are links to these locations on the resources tab above.

Looking forward to fishing with you soon…

Weather and Lunar Phases

Shasta Lake - September 16th, 2005
supplied by: Al Brown's Guide Service
FISHING: Good
The waters are starting to cool down already so the bass action should start to improve.  Dartheaded worms and drop-shot as well as Hula Grubs in No. 221 or Yamamoto in a No. 221 are good colors.  Watermelon or green pumpkin Yamamoto are good colors too.  Start in 10 feet and then drag them out 30 to 40 feet to find the bigger fish. Trout and salmon are the best bet where anglers can expect limits for a half days work in 30 to 70 feet. Drop your ball to 50 and then fish one line off that and a second line at 30 feet.  Purple/blue Hum Dingers or the nickel blue or nickel fish scale Cripplure fished behind a sling blade at 2 mph. should do it.

Weather and Lunar Phases

Ruth Lake - September 16th, 2005
supplied by: Al Brown's Guide Service
FISHING: Good
This lake sees very little pressure this time of year but is a great lake for bass as well as trout.  The mouth of the Mad River will be good for trout.  For the bass, which are staging, head to the northeast side of the lake where the water is shallower and throw Senkos, swimbaits or jigs in crawdad colors.

Baum Lake - September 16th, 2005
supplied by: Al Brown's Guide Service
FISHING: Good
Good hatches of PMD's and caddis continue to be on tap here. Try a callibaetis cripple for some dry activity.   Nymph fishermen are doing well on prince nymphs and pheasant tails in smaller sizes.  Best bait is still crawlers and/or Power Bait.  Lure fishermen are doing the best on Kastmasters and Panther Martins.  A 9-lb. rainbow was caught and released by a local fly fisherman on 9/10/05.
