Bogachiel River - April 2nd, 2006
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
45 °
FISHING: Great
The Bogachiel is back up to a nice flow with the recent rains. There are fish spread out all the way through the system.
Gear Tactics: Stick with Floats with Jigs, Bait or small jensen eggs and yarn ties. The other tactic is to use small plugs. I use X-4 flatfish in Silver, Green Weenie, Blue streak, Michael Jackson, Purple Dick and Flounder. Make sure you fish all the deep water including the real slow water. Side Drifting eggs has been very productive in the last few days and will continue to stay good until they let the smolts go from the hatchery on the 18th of April.
Fly Tactics:
Swing flies in the good flowing flats with 3 feet or more water. Use generally samll flies in blacks and purples. I also like to fish blood red flies. The patterns I like are Steel Woolys, General Practioner, Hare Ball leech and articulated leeches. If you are a nymph fisherman go with a small lead eye fly in Pink, Pink/White, Purple or Pink/Purple and then use a 2 foot dropper with a glo bug or Trout bead.

Bogachiel River - February 11th, 2006
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
52 °
FISHING: Great
The Bogachiel is back in shape. The river should have about 4' feet of visability in the morning and should be getting better each day with cooler weather. Be carefull to look for trees with the recent storm. The river has a good number of Native fish around along with a few fresh Hatchery fish. It is starting to clear up a get a little low with lots of pressure. Make sure you start to use smaller offerings.
There are only a few Hatchery fish left to be found but the wild fish have really picked up. If you are after these fish stick with Plugs in Flame Red, Silver/Red, White/Red or White/Black in the higher flow's. As the water drops you can still plugs but try Silver/Red, Gold, Metallic Blue scale, Metalic Green or Docter Death. If you are into bait or jigs then try Sidedrifting some eggs from the 101 bridge to Lynndeckers. For jigs try some of the Aero Jigs or Beau-Mac Jigs ( www.aerojigs.com) in Pink, Pink and White, Peach or Pink/Purple.
For the Angler looking to landed one of these great fish on a fly try swinging flies that are big in Orange, Red, Pink, Black or Purple. The General Practioner, Hareball leech, Sring leeches or my favorite a Skagit Monster. For the pocket fisherman try small jigs in Pink, Pink/white or Pink/purple or one of our custom yarn worms. You can also fish with some gloe bus tied with Mcfly Foam in Steelhead Orange/Red, Pink/Orange or Red/Chartrueseor try a www.troutbeads.com bead.
The big wld fish have moved in, in pretty big numbers. With the water high like and at this time of the season it best to fish high in the system. Try walking into the park and then fishing your way down. These early season fish will move up as high as they can as fast as they can. As the water level drops you can search farther down the river, just keep in mind that these fish are headed way up the river.
