Bogachiel River - January 30th, 2010
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:    43 °   FISHING: Excellent
Bogachiel River is in good shape running at 27.57 ft and with 5 ft of Vis.

The best techniques with the given water flows and color will be to pull plugs or float fish. For plug pulling stick with Wordens Flatfish or Luhr Jensens kwiikfish in the smaller sizes. For colors i like to use Silver, Silver/red dots, Flame Red, Flame red/ red dots, green weenie, blue streak, michael jackson, flounder and green hornet.

For float fishing we have been using jigs in Pink, Pink/white, pink/peach and the nightmare. We also have had good success on floats and bait. Eggs with a weighted cheater on top with a little yarn has been great. We have been also fishing quite a bit of squid under a float dyed pink. Pink worms on a jig head have been great.

These techniques will be the best until the water comes back up.

Very few hatchery fish left, it has turned into a all wild fish show.

Bogachiel River - January 10th, 2010
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:    57 °   FISHING: Good
Bogachiel River is in bad shape running at 28.77 ft and with 2.5 ft of Vis.

Still lots of hatchery fish spread out from just above the boat launch at the the hatchery down to Wilson's boat launch. Look for native Steelhead to spread out form the mouth all the way into the upper reaches above the 101 bridge. REMEMBER THAT ABOVE 101 IS SELECTIVE GEARS RULES.

The best techniques with the given water flows and color will be to pull plugs or sidedrift. For plug pulling stick with Wordens Flatfish or Luhr Jensens kwiikfish in the smaller sizes. For colors i like to use Silver, Silver/red dots, Flame Red, Flame red/ red dots, White/red, white/black, claire-a-bell, flounder and green hornet.

If you are a sidedrifter then stick with a little bigger corkie or cheater size like a size 10. With the higher dirty flows i like to use Flame red, Chartruese/red dots, chartruese/green dots and Rainbow. For baits i like to use a little bigger eggs cluster and will add a little red or pink to my egg cure for a brighter eggs. I will also fish a lot of prawns deyed bright pink because of the strong smell.

These techniques will be the best for the next couple of days unto the water drops and clears a little more.

The hatchery fish showed be around for a couple of more weeks and then the natives will take over.

Bogachiel River - December 18th, 2009
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:    46 °   FISHING: Excellent
Bogy is in good shape running at 28.80 ft with 2.5' of vis.
Fish a still showing in great numbers!!!

The first of the Winter Steelhead have shown on this last high water. Stick to fishing right around the hatchery. Drift fishing corkies and yarn with eggs or sandshrimp will be good. You might also try some Floats and Jigs just above the boat launch. Stick with bright colors like cerise, pink/white and pink/char. You might also try some plugs in the flats above the launch or down below the hatchery in the first couple of holes. Stick with small plugs in Silver, Silver/red, Flame red, Casper and Flounder. Dont be surprized if you catch a silver when pulling those plugs for steelhead.

Fishing only get better as river clears a little and fish slow down a little, This should be good for another several weeks.
