Hoh River - April 1st, 2014
supplied by: Puget Sound Fly Company, LLC
RECORDED:    54 °   FISHING: Great
Pretty awesome fishing to be had right now. A few good reports from the Hoh this week, as the season winds down it seems that there are still decent numbers of fresh fish filtering thru. With the opportunity to land a true trophy native steelhead, it might be a good idea to head to the OP the next few weeks still.

RECORDED:    42 °   FISHING: Excellent
The Hoh River is running at 2060 cfs with 4' of vis above Oxbow and 2' below oxbow.

Plenty of wild Steelhead coming in along with a few late hatchery Steelhead showing up

The Best techniques will be plug pulling, side drifting or float fishing.

If pulling plugs stick with the Yakima bait x-4 flatfish above oxbow and below I would stick Yakima bait Mag lip 3.5's in Silver, silver/red, flame red, Dr,Death, Misty River, blue scale, silver/black, gold and flounder.

Floats above oxbow I would stick with 1/2 once Aero Floats with 1/8 once Aero or Beau Mac Jigs in Cerise, pink, pink/white, pink/peach, red, red/purple or white/red/black. I would also fish 1/8 once jig head with a 4" mad River worm in bubble gum, nail polish, clear water pink, nightmare or black/chart tail.

Side Drifting above oxbow stick with side drifting yarnies in pink, pink/cerise, orange/pink or orange/pink/chart. Also fish  a 4" mad river worm in bubble gum, nail polish, pink/chart tail or mightmare.

Below oxbow stick with 2 #4 vision hooks with a #10 Yakima Bait corky in between in flame red, chart/red dot, rainbow, orange/red dot, pink/red dot or glo green. Add a small cluster of Pautzke cured eggs in pink Boraxo fire cure.

Will continue to be good for several more months.

Hoh River - August 8th, 2013
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:    80 °   FISHING: Great
The Hoh is running at 1150CFS with 5' of visibility and steady.

It is mostly a summer steelhead show with a few summer Chinook around.

For the summer steelhead the best technique has been float fishing with Aero and Beau Mac Jigs. Stick with Cerise, pink, pink/white, orange/white, black, black/red and the Nightmare Jig. sticking a small piece of coon shrimp on the jig will sometimes increase your bites.

If looking for a Summer Chinook then pulling plugs will be your best bet and I would stick with Yakima baits Maglip 3.5's in the lower flows. Silver, silver/chart, double trouble, mad clown, cerise, Dr. Death, misty river and blue scale would be some of the better colors. Stick to the deeper faster holes for these summer kings.

The summer steelhead will continue to be good for another month or so and the kings will be around for a couple more weeks until the Fall kings start poking their noses in around mid September.

Hoh River - March 22nd, 2012
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:    34 °   FISHING: Excellent
The Hoh River is in good shape running at 2130 cfs with 4 ft of vis and dropping.

The Hoh is full of wild fish spread out from the Mouth all the way to the park line.

With the river running high the best techniques will be pulling plugs or side drifting. If pulling plugs stick with T-4 Flatfish in silver, silver/red, flame red, grenn hornet, clair'a'belle, casper or flounder.

For the side drifter stick with 2 #2 vision hooks and a #8 corkie in flame red, chart/red, rainbow or chart/green dot. For bait fish eggs cured in Pink Borax-0-fire or Borax-o-fire cured prawns.

Above 101 you can side drift Mad River worms in bubble gum pink, flr orange, methalate or pink/chart tails.

Remember that above the oxbow boat launch it is selective gear rules which means no bait and sinlge barbless hooks and no retenion of wild fish.

This will only get better over the next couple of days as the water drops.

supplied by: Puget Sound Fly Company, LLC
RECORDED:    39 °   FISHING: Great
Penninsula fishing is really great right now. Watch the flows and head out asap! There have been some really big fish this year in January and February and as long as the flows continue to be stable, we should see some great fishing. We went 6/10 on Monday...not bad! Anil hooked a fish near the 18lb mark...
