Hoh River - April 6th, 2009
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
69 °
FISHING: Excellent
Hoh is in great shape running at 1470 and dropping with 3.5 ft of vis.
This one is HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!!
The fishing was awesome before it went out and the fish are still here because it is awesome again. I would get here quick and get in on some of this action before it close on the 15th.
In the upper river the fishing has been very good with all kinds of techniques working. The best has been pulling plugs, Float Fishing or sidedrifting.
For Plugs I have been having the best luck on X-4 Flatfish in Silver, flame red, cop car, Dr. Death, Green Hornet and Flounder.
For floats we have been using Aero Jigs in Pink, Pink/white, Pink/peach and Cerise. Also been lote of Mad River Worms in 4" Pink, Cerse/chart Tail and Flour Red on a 1/8 oz jig head.
Side Drifting 6" Mad river worms in pink, pink/chart tail and flour orange has been producing very well.
Remember that above the oxbow campground that it is selective gear which means no bait or scent, single barbless hook and no retention of wild fish.
From Oxbow dwon the best techniques have plug pulling with the same colors from above and Siderifting with bait. For the Sidedrifting we have been using a # 10 cheater with two #2 vision hooks and some coastal cured eggs or Prawns.
Lots of big wild fish showing up in here, so now is the time to look at fishing this one. Look out for lots of changes in river as you float it. A couple bad spots around Minnies and also at the Oxbow rapid. Please be Carefull.
