Hoh River - September 29th, 2009

Hoh is in good shape running at 519 cfs and 4 ft of vis. and on the rise with last nights rain.

The Fall Kings and Silvers have arrived in good numbers with the rescent rains.

Best techniques for these fall kings is pulling divers and herring or eggs in the deeper holes. Use a size #20 jet planer and a green label herring cut plugged or some of your best red salmon eggs tipped with shrimp, sardines or tuna..

The other technique that works good is K-13 or K-15 Kwikfish wrapped with Sardines or Tuna.  Stick to Mr. Bill, Double Trouble, Mrs. Bill, Blue Scale, Met Pink or Green Hornet.

The silvers have been biting #4 vibrax spinners in Chrome/orange, Chrome/chart and chrome/blue. Casting jigs has also been working well in Pink, Pink/silver glitter, Chart/silver glitter and tutti frutti.

Steelhead are still in abundance and been best caught pulling small plugs in the Flatfish x-4 in Silver, Mr.bill, Mrs.bill, Dot, Green Weenie and Green Hornet.

With all 3 species in the river the fishing has been awesome and will only get better.

The first of the fall Kings have shown up and will slowly build in numbers over the next coup;le of weeks with these early fall rains.

The river has both summer Steelhead and Summer Chinooks spread out from morgans crossing down to the mouth.

For the Chinook the best has been running small plugs like the T-4 flatfish or fatfish in Silver, Mr. Bill, Mrs. bill, Met pink, purple or Dr.death. Along with the Chinooks the summer steelhead have been biting the same plugs.

The Summer Steelhead fishing has been best with Floats and Jigs in Night Mare, Red, Black, Black/White and Olive.

The summer steelhead will get better as the next couple of weeks unfold and the salmon will slow a little until the fall salmon start to show.

Hoh is in poor shape running at 1560 cfs and 1 ft of vis. With this hot weather the snow melt is coloring the river up, it is going to take alittle cooler weather to calm the river down.
