A great rating for the Jemez? Well not all of the Jemez is on fire.Spoke with the Forestry Dept. and they say that we have seen the worst of this fire. The Guadalupe has been fishing really good with the emergence of salmonflies. Hatch is up by the tunnels right now. Give it a shot you wont be dissapointed.

A little rumor that the Giant Salmonfly hatch on the Guad has started! Good flows are abundant in the Jemez right now. Have had some good reports on the San Antone. Caddis dries and small stimis trailed with a size 18-20 beatis pattern will get their attention.

Skinny, skinny water. Look for fish, land a fly, and look for movement nearby. It's a fish most likely, and the fly you used is something small, either a small adams or an ant. Tiny jujus behind your dries should be good. Do the teeny creeks with a three or two weight.

Creeks with a three weight, ants, small hoppers, sandwich, nap. In the northwest part of the Caldera (from the Coyote/Gallina approach) there is some good cutthroat fishing.

Quite good, unless it rains and sends mud into your fishing hole. Ant season y'all. Up at the de las Vacas end, there is some sweet narrow water cutty fishing. Roll out that map.

The Guadalupe is high though fishable, likely to drop quickly and improve just as much. The fish are still skinny, an indication that the stonefly nymphs aren't moving yet, but look forward to that happening any time now. Fly choice is no biggie, though while the water's still a bit dirty, you might benefit from something big and/or flashy. A princess is what's worked for us lately, but like I said, no importa.

I'm going out on a limb here. The Guadalupe will be rocking, if not soon, then yesterday. Big stone nymphs and grubby nymphs would be my choice.
