Jemez Area Streams - August 29th, 2004
supplied by: The Reel Life
FISHING: Good
Jemez Area Streams: Slightly cooler weather is good news for the meadow areas. Parachute dries and light tippets for late summer fish.

Valle Caldera National Preserve: Very good.  Rubber-legged hoppers and black ants in the morning followed by smaller parachute dries, ants, beetles and only-the-leader-can't-see-the-fly casts over the bank edges will get as many fish as you can imagine. Trouble with vans means you should pack light and expect a tight ride.

Valle Vidal: Little change. Flows are staying a bit high with better casters rewarded for getting casts tight to the banks.  It's been erratic, though, so check flows before you head out on our "Links page" .  Fishing has been good at Shuree but not for lunkers.  This area is all "special trout water"; please check all the regs before visiting.

Parts North:  Both the Rio Grande and Conejos in Colorado have been yielding some nice stories lately, although water levels are late-summer normal and hatches are tapering off. Sneak away for a quick trip if you can!

Jemez Area Streams: Murky following frequent storms. Good reports from folks visiting between storms using small parachute patterns, light tippets and careful (sneaky) approaches.
