FISHING: Good
Conner, Dad and I fished the Klamath River for Salmon this afternoon after our morning trip to Redding to get Dad's blood checked. Dad’s blood is good to go for chemo tomorrow. We picked Conner up at lunch time from school and headed over to the river and one hour later Conner had the first Salmon hooked up. We were backtrolling a Luhr Jensen jet diver with a gob of roe, when the 10 pound hen took the bait. Conner was his usual excited self, “Oh yea baby the first Salmon!!!! Oh yea baby what a beautiful Salmon!!! Oh yea oh yea!!!!” after a 10 minute battle, Conner got the hen to the net and in the boat. About 3 hour’s hour later, it was on the BBQ, and dinner for Conner was served. Dad landed another 14-pound hen while bouncing roe about an hour after Conner. Unfortunately, Grandpa struck today, but we will be back at it Wednesday after Chemo tomorrow. Thursday and Friday will be the all Caldwell fishing adventure #2, Uncle Lance, and cousin Eric, will be driving up from Ventura Wednesday, watch out river here we come!!!!!!!!!!!

FISHING: Good
My Dad and I fished the river twice this past week. We have yet to land a Salmon but they are starting to trickle in. The Steelhead and Trout bite is very good, with fish in the 10 to 22-inch range. Backtrolling crawdad plugs or worms behind a jet diver have been the hot ticket. The Salmon bite will improve by the day, last year, by the 20th of September, the bite was in full swing and it is looking like it will be the same this year.

FISHING: Great
Conner, Grandpa and I did a little R & D on the Klamath River and found the Steely Trout fishing to be excellent. Conner turned the screws pretty hard on Grandpa today landing 12 fish to Grandpa's 7. Conner also landed 4 nice adults in the 16 to 20 inch class to Grandpa's 1. They landed all the fish while backtrolling a rebel crawdad plug or a whole treaded nightcrawler behind a luhr jensen jet diver. We dropped the boat on river about noon and fished till 4, it was nice being the only boat on the water. The Klamath is in excellent shape, the flow is now at 1400cfs, we should be seeing some Salmon up near the hatchery in the next two weeks.
****Now is good time to book that Salmon or Steelhead Trip -- September October and November dates fill up fast ****
**My drift can handle one to three persons for Salmon or Steelhead and two persons for Fly Fishing only trips**

Klamath River - July 29th, 2010

RECORDED:

FISHING: Great
Despite the lower flows and hot temperatures the Klamath river is kicking out some nice Trout. The river is currently flowing at 825cfs the lowest its been in the last 5 years. Despite this low flow the Trout are hungry, as long as the sun is not up, and shining on the water. My client Jerry landed Trout in the in the 12 to 17-inch range and lost a couple of 20-inchers. The Hotshot worm combo produced the most fish, but panther martins and the rebel crawdad plug also produced some nice Trout. Fishing on the river right now will be best between the hours of 5am and 10am, so get that early start.
