A lot of bugs! Green Drakes, Flav's, Golden Stones, Mahogony Duns, BWO's, October Caddis, Micro Caddis, Mutliple colors of caddis, PMD's, Rusty Spinners, Yellow Sally's, and little green stones. Kokanee should be entering the river system soon if the haven't already, which means eggs should really start becoming productive. Hatches don't typically start to come off until noon, so no rush to get onto the river.

Metolius River - August 29th, 2011
supplied by: The Flyfishers Place
RECORDED:
80 °
FISHING: Great
The metolius has been fishing good. PMD's, little green stones, caddis, micro caddis, golden stones, BWO's, rusty spinners, orange caddis, yellow sallys, and midges are being seen on the river. Hatches usually start around 1 or 2 so theres really not much reason to be on the river until then unless youre nymping. Big heavy stone fly nymphs with something like a soft hackle pheasant tail, hears ear, three dollar dip, or angle case emerger is the way to go.

FISHING: Good
Midday to Evening has definetely been the best time to be on the water. Bugs being seen are Golden Stones, little green stones, PMD's, BWO's, Caddis, Yellow Sallys, and Rusty Spinners. 12' Leaders with 6X is the way to go. When nothing is happeing on top, nymhping golden stone nymphs with smaller droppers can be effective.
