Northern Lakes: Warmer than last week, but McAllister Lake is still a tad cold and most fly fishers are catching fish on beadhead nymphs rather than buggers. Cochiti is starting to promise a little fun with a report of two big pike on flies last week.

Northern Lakes: McAllister saw lots of activity over the weekend despite some showers. There are some fat honkers out there but most fish are being caught along the shallower edges where the water is beginning to warm. (hint, hint.)

McAllister Lake was up and down over the weekend. Lots of folks were out to enjoy the weather but only a few of the bigger (18-20") fish were hooked. Water is still pretty cold, so try the warmer shallows and save the sinking lines for the summer.

Charette, Maxwell and McAllister Lakes opened their seasons on March 1 AT NOON. No reports back yet. In preparation for the opening day at McAllister, NM Game and Fish has stocked 3600 10-inch fish to supplement the resident lunker population.
