Definitely time to break up your winter with a trip to the Pecos. We had snow, but the water is open and the fish are biting on deep fished nymphs. This is a good time of year to work the bridges in town. A little runoff, but not enough to knock the fish down or make things unsafe.

No change. Fishing is shut down by the cold above the village, but a couple of decent reports downstream of I-25 as stocking has begun at Villanueva State Park.

big changes. Nice fishing even in the cold water with smallish beadhead nymphs. Water levels are comfortable and not too low. Test your waders for leaks and get out this weekend.

Very good with nymphs and some dries previous to heavy rain and sleet in the canyon Wednesday evening. River went from 70cfs, spiked above 400cfs yesterday and is returning (just as quickly) to more normal flows and good fishing, probably with beadhead patterns.

Much cooler water so nymphing becomes the rule unless an afternoon hatch (mayflies mostly) brightens up.

Okay fishing but cooling water. A great big hailstorm over there last week changed the flows and temperatures, but fish are still there for anglers willing to adjust tactics.

Good fishing. Two really strong rainstorms in the past week--one Tuesday afternoon--have flushed the stream and sent the campers home. Beadheads in the morning until the water warms, then some dry flies.

Good fishing. Flow has dropped again to 60 cfs as the area has been without rain for a few days. Don't bother getting out at the crack of dawn--wait for water to warm slightly. Expect it to be pretty busy anywhere close to the road this weekend.
