Rio Grande - March 15th, 2009
supplied by: The Reel Life
RECORDED:
54 °
FISHING: Great
Around the Pueblo confluence, the fishing has been off the hook. Flows are hovering around 700 with the warmish weather, a little high for careless wading but just fine for pinpoint fishing to the pockets and holes in that area. Running a yellow egg pattern behind your favorite attractor nymph (dark in color would be best) will turn up plenty of fish if you fish it deep and tight enough. Big browns are on it. Hike upstream for half an hour and the fishing should be outstanding as well.

Rio Grande - January 24th, 2007
supplied by: The Reel Life
FISHING: Good
Water was pretty cold last week, but the sun is warming things up enough for some pike in the afternoons. Take advantage of the Trout Unlimited Truchas Chapter pike clinic on Saturday, Jan. 27th if you want to give it a try. You must be a TU member (or can join the morning of the clinic). Contact Bob O'Connor roboconnor@aol.com or 505-603-0797 to register. Our guides are volunteering to help make this a fun day.

Rio Grande - October 28th, 2005
supplied by: The Reel Life
FISHING: Good
here is a bit of a hump in the hydrograph the last couple of days, but fishing still seems okay. Use heavier nymphs and streamer patterns to get down deeper in the seams. Browns seem to be staging for spawn--please avoid wading on gravel bars which may be redds.

FISHING: Fair
The big river is a little bigger now with the fallout from last weekend's storm finally accumulating near the Taos Junction Bridge. Use heavier nymphs and streamer patterns to get down deeper in the seams. Browns seem to be staging for spawn--please avoid wading on gravel bars which may be redds.

Rio Grande - September 22nd, 2005
supplied by: The Reel Life
FISHING: Great
Pretty steady water around 200cfs at Taos Junction Bridge and clear for the Rio. Some really nice reports coming out of the Gorge and even at Pilar. Caddis larvae, small streamers and the occasional fish tempted to the surface by a dry. Now is the time!
