Sol Duc River - January 27th, 2012
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
34 °
FISHING: Excellent
The Sol Duc is in good shape running at 3200cfs with 4ft of vis and dropping.
The Sol Duc has good amounts of snider creek hatchery fish and wild steelhead from the mouth all the way to the closed boundry.
With the river running high the best techniques will be pulling plugs or side drifting. If pulling plugs stick with T-4 Flatfish in silver, silver/red, flame red, grenn hornet, clair'a'belle, casper or flounder.
For the side drifter stick with 2 #2 vision hooks and a #8 corkie in flame red, chart/red, rainbow or chart/green dot. For bait fish eggs cured in Pink Borax-0-fire or Borax-o-fire cured prawns.
The hatchery fish and wild fish are spread out throught the system right with the low water. Remember that above the salmon hatchery it is selective gear rules which means no bait and sinlge barbless hooks and no retenion of wild fish.
This willl continue to get better as the water level drops.

For jigs the Nightmare, cerise, pink, pink/white, AGS jig, purple/pink and black/red. If youwant to add a little flavour to your jig you can adda small piece of prawn soaked in Puatzke Nectuar or a small spawn sack of eggs cured in Borax-o-fire.
I have also been having good luck with a Mad River Worm in Clear Water Pink rigged wacky Style.
