Sol Duc River - January 1st, 2008
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
54 °
FISHING: Excellent
Sol Duc in great shape with 4 ft of vis and Meduim flow.
Lots of both Hatchery and Wild fish spread out through the system.
Best techniques so far have been sidedrifting bait. Fish small egg clusters behind a small cheater and Double hooks.
Most fish are moving through the system fairly fast so fish are being hooked in little pockets and tops of riffles.
This is only going to get better as the weeks unfold.

Sol Duc River - April 14th, 2007
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
57 °
FISHING: Excellent
Sol Duc in great shape with 4 ft of vis and 8 boards..
Lots of fish spread out from top to bottom.
Most guys are still sidedrifting small baits with a #2 hook and yarn with a small egg cluster. This will work better in the lower river as the water level continues to drop.
The water level is down to the right flow now to start fishing with jigs. Stick with Pink and White, Peach or the night Mare Jig. As water level drops even more try very small baits under a float.
If you are a fly fisherman stick with swung flies in Black, Purple, Black and Purple or Blood Red. The Zandoli Worm has been great for the nymph fisherman or a pair of 8mm beads.
THE FIRST OF THE SPRINGERS ARE HERE. Springer action will only get better each day from here on out. If you are looking for some early springer action stick with m-2 flatfish , t-4 flatfish or diver and shrimp combos. For the plugs I like silver, Silver/char, Green Weenie, Blue Scale, Gold or Flounder. For your diver shrimp combo stick a snorkie( Soft Corkie) in front of your shrimp and soak with Mikes Shrimp Oil or Anise oil.
The lower river from Whitcomb Dimmel down to Lynndeckers and even in to the Quileyute down to Richwine bar are going to be your better bets for these early sprigers.
