FISHING: Excellent
The Sol Duc is in great shape running 1150 CFS with 7 ft of vis. The river is rising.
It is all Spring Chinook now with the river closed for steelhead. Spring Chinook are spread out from the mouth all the way to the Hatchery. Fish starting to stack up in the deeper holes.
Plug fishing has been good using mid size to smaller in M-2 Flatfish down to T-4 and X-4 Flatfish. Best colors have been Mr.Bill, Mad Clown, Green Hornet, Blue Scale, Blue Scale/Chart Bill, Silver and Met Pink.
Some of the deeper holes have been fishing good with a diver and Bait. Fish a #20 diver with a 5ft leader and any combination of Eggs, Shrimp, Sardines and Mackeral. Sit on the holes and wait for them to bite. You might also try to use some floats and eggs in the deeper holes.
Springers will just get better in the next couple of weeks.

The Sol Duc is in great shape running 1700 CFS with 4 ft of vis. The river is dropping.
Right now it is your guess what you are going to catch Winter Steelhead, Summer Steelhead and Spring Chinook.
At this water flow the best techniques will be plug pulling or sidedrifting. For plug pulling stick with wordens flatfish or Luhr Jensens Kwikfish in the small to meduim sizes. The colors that have been working for me have been silver, Silver/red dots, flame, flame/red dots, green hornet, green weenie, blue streak and flounder. For Springers stick with M-2 or T-4 Flatfish in Silver/chart head, California Watermellon, Blue scale, Blue Scale/Chart head or Seahawk.
Sidedrifting for winter steelhead and springers will be good tomorrow with 2# 3 vision hooks and flame, chart/red, chart/green or rainbow cheaters with some red or orange eggs.
Still good winter steelhead fishing but it close for steelhead after tomorrow. It will be all springchinook for the next month.
