Sol Duc River - November 12th, 2009

Sol Duc is in great shape running at 10 boards and 2 ft of vis.
This is pretty much a silver show from here on out. This will close on the 1st of December and will great for chrome silver right up until it closes.
With the rescent rains the fish have piled up in the Sol Duc and i mean Piled. The fish are on the move and are filling up below the hatchery and spread out all the way to the mouth.
Lots of silvers and the best techniques have been throwing spinners in #5 Blue Fox's in Silver/orange, Silver/Blue, Silver/Purple and Copper. Also fishing jigs in Pink, Pink/purple, White, Silver, and Blue/pink Scale.
The fishing has been off the charts and will stay this good for a least another couple of weeks.

With the rescent rains the fish have piled up in the Sol Duc and i mean Piled. The fish are on the move and are filling up below the hatchery and spread out all the way to the mouth.
Lots of silvers and the best techniques have been throwing spinners in #5 Blue Fox's in Silver/orange, Silver/Blue, Silver/Purple and Copper. Also fishing jigs in Pink, Pink/purple, White, Silver, and Blue/pink Scale.
A few Kings starting to show up in good numbers. Stick with Small plugs like T-4 Flatfish in Silver/char, Silver, Green Hornet, Blue Scale, Blue Streak and Met Pink.
Floats and Eggs have been producing tons of jack silvers, adult silvers have biting them fairly good also and if after kings then this has been the go to technique in the deeper holes.
The fishing has been off the charts and will stay this good for a least another couple of weeks.

Sol Duc is in poor shape running at 13 boards and 6" of vis.
It will be fishable tomorrow but will be high and colored. Stick with the big plugs and large spinners.

It will take a couple of daus for this come back into shape but when it does it will be awesome again.

Sol Duc River - October 15th, 2009

Sol Duc is in good shape running at 230 cfs and unlimited vis.
With a little rise in the water the fish have moved up out of the quillayute and into the lower Sol Duc. This not quite boatable yet but can bank fished good.
With the low water the best techniques will be to throw small spinners in dark colors like Copper, Gold, Gold/green and Black/green. You can aslo drift Dick Nights in Half/Half, Silver/red, silver/green, silver/pink and Gold.
Small egg clusters under afloat will also entice a bite.
We need a little more water in here to really get the fish moving.

The Sol Duc in great shape running at 5 boards and 6 ft of vis.
The springers have been stretched out from the hatchery all the way down to the mouth. Fish starting to hold up in the deep holes.
Best techniques have been fishng diver and bait in the upper river and in the lower river both diver and bait or plugs.
For the diver and bait combo the best success has been diver and Fresh sand shrimp with a little eggs under the tail. You might try a coon stripe prawn behind a diver as a mix up.
In the lower river or if the river comes up try fishing some plugs in sizes T-4 flatfish or a X-4 flatfish in Blue scale, Blue pirate, green pirate, green hornet, nuclear hornet, silver, Mr. Bill, Mrs Bill and the Flounder.
Springers will continue to be good through the middle of june.

Sol Duc is in great shape currently at 5 boards and rising a with 5 ft of vis.
It is all Springer's now. The winter steelhead season closed on the 1st.
The best techniques have been float fishing or diver and bait.
if you are float fishing stick with sand shrimp or eggs in the deeper slow holes.
If you are fishing with diver and bait then fish with #20 jet diver and a shrimp and egg combo also in the deeper holes.
Springers will get better with a little water.
