Taos Area Waters - May 7th, 2009
supplied by: The Reel Life
RECORDED:
69 °
FISHING: Excellent
That means the Cimarron, Coyote Creek, and Eagle Nest only. The Cimarron is smoking, on pretty much every nymph but the kitchen sink (though I probably wouldn't rule that out). Elsewhere, water will be muddy or really high and fast on the Pueblo, Santa B, Chiquito, Pot Creek, Hondo, and Red. Head over the hill.

Taos Area Waters - April 20th, 2009
supplied by: The Reel Life
RECORDED:
58 °
FISHING: Excellent
Due to the creeks being mostly muddy, I'd head over to the Cimarron for the best fishing. They're releasing some water finally, and the browns should be on a serious scud and cranefly bite. For some off the charts fishing, call Cimarroncita at 575 376-2376 and work something out. Insane fish numbers on that place.
The lake should be fine too if you can stand the wind. Bring at least a 6 weight if it's blowing. Then check out coyote creek; they should be on dries soon if the recent snow melts off soon.

Taos Area Waters - April 6th, 2009
supplied by: The Reel Life
RECORDED:
50 °
FISHING: Fair
Depending on runoff and air temps, you should be able to find reliable fishing in the creeks. I'd go Chiquito, Pot, Little Rio, and Santa Barbara. For me at this time of year, going over to the other side is the best bet. Since I was a kid, Coyote Creek and the Cimarron have been money in the middle spring shoulder season. Oh yeah, if you fish Coyote or Cimarron, stop by the south end of Eagle Nest and dip a thermometer in. If temps are much above 45, consider fishing through the coves.
