The Owen River Lodge is a luxury fishing lodge located in Murchison - in the Nelson Lakes district of the South Island of New Zealand.
The lodge offers its guests stylish accommodation, stunning food, superb service and outstanding fishing.
The lodge sits on the bank of the Owen River, providing our guests with views which are simply breath-taking, with sensational views of the Owen River, the valley and Mount Owen.
We are centrally located, with easy access to the Nelson/ Marlborough and West Coast fisheries. This location places us right in the middle of the best brown trout fishery in the world.
Thus you can enjoy fly fishing on numerous blue-ribbon streams and rivers, with over 30 waters accessible by road (most within 1 hour’s drive), and countless others by helicopter.

One of the highlights of your stay at Owen River Lodge will be the meals. New Zealand's unique cuisine has grown from a fusion of highly distinct cultures - Mâori, Polynesian, Asian and every kind of European. We call the cuisine that emerges from this fusion - Pacifica cuisine.
The food at Owen River Lodge could best be described as stunning. We use the best of fresh, locally sourced produce and wines. Naturally the tariff includes all your meals and non alcoholic beverages.
Accomodations:
To ensure your absolute privacy, guests are accommodated in one of four cottages which are located in the gardens, a short stroll from the main lodge. All the cottages have stunning views of the river, valley and mountains.
The cottage design emphasises timber and space, accentuated by the exposed beam ceilings.
Each cottage is luxuriously appointed with reverse cycle air conditioning; king sized beds, original fine art works, ironing facilities, an alarm clock, tea & coffee making facilities and feature 100 year old recycled oregon beams and woodwork.
All guest rooms have an en suite bathroom equipped with oversized towels, bath robes, a hairdryer and of course, shampoo and conditioner
Season:
The river fly fishing season begins on the 1st of October and ends on the 30th of April, thus the session starts in spring, moves to summer and ends in autumn. Equipment Used:
The lodge has a selection of Simms / Sage fly fishing equipment for our guests to use free of charge.
This includes Sage 5, 6 & 7 Weight – 4 piece Fly Rods w/ Wide arbour Reels, Simms Guide fishing boots, Simms Freestone Gore-Tex Rain coat/jackets, Simms Classic Guide Stocking foot Gore-Tex waders - sizes from small to extra large king size!

All tariffs are quoted in New Zealand Dollars and include GST.
Deposit:
Deposit and Cancellation Policy
You can secure your reservation by providing us with a 25% deposit. We accept Visa, MasterCard and Diners Club.
Owen River Lodge is a small boutique lodge and cancellations affect us greatly.
If your reservation is cancelled within 90 Days of arrival there will be a charge of 25% of the accommodation & guiding.
Within 60 Days of arrival, there will be a charge of 50%
Within 30 Days of arrival, there will be a charge of 75%
Within 15 Days of arrival, there will be a charge of 100%
Naturally we will endeavour to re-book the cottage and/or guide and if this is successful we will refund your deposit. We strongly advise guests to take out travel insurance to protect themselves against unexpected changes to their travel plans.
