Accomodations:
Modern, air conditioned lodges with double occupancy suites and private baths.  Single supplement accomodations available on request. 

Transportation:
International air transport, regional flights and air taxis not included.  Lodges are remotely located and accessable only via air taxi.

Via air:

Rio Roosevelt - port of entry Sao Paulo International Airport.  Domestic flight routing from Sao Paulo to Manaus and Porto Velho.  Air taxi from Porto Velho to Rio Roosevelt Lodge.

Xingu River - port of entry Sao Paulo International Airport.  Domestic flight routing from Sao Paulo to Belem and Altamira.  Air taxi from Altamira to Xingu River Lodge.
 

Nearby activities and attractions:
For visitors to the Xingu River Lodge, located in the State of Para, Brazil, the state's capitol city Belem and its surroundings (1-1/2 hours by plane from the lodge) offer a bounty of tourist attractions including local architecture, customs and cuisine, indigenous peoples and natural points of interest, including the world's largest river island Ilha de Marajo, where herds of buffalo are as common as the flocks of scarlet red ibis. Just ask and we'll be happy to send a video of tourism opportunties in the area.

mid-June through mid-November

Water/Weather Conditions:
Weather is tropical year round with the Xingu River Lodge and the Rio Roosevelt lodge located 2.5 and 8 degrees respectively from the equator.  Mid-June through mid-November is the typical dry season with little daily rainfall, however, thunderstorms are not uncommon in this rainforest region.

Water conditions:
Rio Roosevelt - black and clear
Xingu River - green and clear - some locations permit sight casting

Deposit:
A deposit of US$1,000 (one thousand dollars) per person is required to hold all reservations. Confirmation will be made by return mail (or e-mail) after receipt of deposit. Complete refunds on deposits will be made for cancellations received more than 90 days prior to the date of arrival.

Documentation required:
* Valid passport with a minimum of 6 months remaining validity.
* For U.S. citizens, a Brazilian Tourist Visa is required. 
* Evidence of valid yellow fever vaccination.

* SPF-30 sun screen
* UV protective clothing and sunglasses
* Insect repellant, e.g., Deep Woods OFF!
