6-Day Fishing trips on the ERIK
Gustavo Velez is Baja Sportfishing

The 105' mothership ERIK

You live aboard the 105 foot ERIK in air-conditioned bunk rooms for 2, 3 or 6.  Travel to the midriff island area where you fish from pangas.   The boat is your floating hotel and restaurant.  The food is excellent quality Mexican and American cuisine, all cooked fresh.

Location:
San Felipe, Baja California (125 miles south of Mexicali)
and Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico.

Inclusions:
Included in the price of $800 per person is:  all of your meals, soda pop, your Mexican fishing permit, and a secure place to park your vehicle in San Felipe while you are fishing.  Shuttle to and from the boat is also included.

Accomodations:
The bunk rooms range from 2 bunks and a dresser with it's own air-conditioning unit, to 3 people in a room with four bunks - central a/c, and one large room with 8 bunks in which we usually put 6 people - also central a/c.  3 heads and 3 showers, and one combination shower/head.  Fresh water showers.

Transportation:
You drive to San Felipe.   There are no commercial airlines going there at this time.   Be sure to obtain Mexican insurance before you cross the border in Calexico.  We recommend Oscar Padilla, who's office is on the main street to the border.

Directions:
From San Diego, take I-8 to El Centro, then Hwy. 111 south to the border.   Cross at Mexicali and follow the signs toward San Felipe.  You will be on Mexican Hwy. 5 south for about 125 miles.  The numbered markers you see at the side of the road indicatge kilometers from Mexicali.  There is one military checkpoint about 40 miles before you get to San Felipe.   They usually want to know where you are coming from and where you are going.  They may ask if you have any drugs or guns.   Of course you will not.  They are always courteous and considerate.  Proceed into San Felipe.  At the arches go another 2 miles to a park-like circle.  Stay to your right and you will be on Mar Caribe.  Go about 2 more miles until you see a red and white tower on the right.  At that point, turn left to the marina.  Go to the dock and check in at the boat.

Nearby activities and attractions:
Enjoy the cantinas in the town of San Felipe, and walk on the malecon.  There are plenty of vendors with souvenirs for you to buy.

Season:
The San Felipe season lasts from mid-April through October.  We depart every Saturday during that time, and return on Thursday evening.

Water/Weather Conditions:
April and May, the weather is mild - you will even want a jacket during the evening.  June is a little warmer, and July, August and September - the best fishing time - is quite warm.  You'll enjoy the air-conditioned staterooms then.  Be sure to have plenty of sun screen of at least SPF 30, and a large-brimmed hat, no matter what time of year it is.

Equipment Used:
Visit our website www.bajasportfishinginc.com for our "what to bring" list.

Rates:
Fish 3 people and a guide in each panga for $800 per person.  If you wish to fish 2 per panga, the price is $1100 per person.

Deposit:
We require a deposit of $250 within 10 days of verbally booking the trip.  If not received at the office in form of a check or cash, the spot will be forfeited.  Balance is due at a minimum of 30 days prior to the trip departure.

Documentation required:
At the present time, only valid recognized photo ID (i.e. driver's license) is required to re-enter the U.S.  And for in Mexico, that is sufficient.  If you do have a passport, it is a good idea to take it as well, but it is NOT necessary yet.

Other information:
We also have five trips departing from the port of PUERTO PENASCO in Sonora, Mexico on the following dates:
Sept. 17-22, October 10-13
The trips for Sept. 10-15, Sept. 24-29 and Oct. 1-6 are already full.
Contact our office or via email to obtain information about these trips.
