Typical Itinerary
Day1: Arrive in Guatemala City. Reception by a great sailfishing English speaking staff or owner. Transfer to your choice of stay. Ride takes about 11/2 hours, drinks served.
Days 2-4: Full fishing days. You and your party will be served a full American breakfast before transfer to the marina. Typical fishing day is 7am until 4 or 4:30pm lunch and beverages will be served on board the sportfishing boats. In addition to the abundant sailfish population, you will have the opportunity to catch blue/black marlin, yellowfish tuna, dorado, roosterfish and wahoo.
Day 4 if your flight back home leaves before 10.30am your last night will be in one of our quality hotels in the viva zone. If your departure leaves after 10.30am your choice of last night stay.
Day 5: Depart for USA. (Note: our hotels serve/include breakfast) Languages - Our staff members are bi-lingual so don’t worry about speaking Spanish.

Transportation: Included is round-trip airport pick-up and daily round-trip transfers to the Pez Vela Marina. Nearby activities and attractions: Add a day of inshore fishing for roosterfish, mackerel, snapper, snook and other inshore fish. Bird watching up the Chiquimula River. Guided private tours to: Antigua Guatemala, Tikal, Lake Atitlán, native American marketplace in Chichicastenango, jade fields of Zacapa, etc. Take an extra day to play a round of golf on one of Guatemala's private courses. Stay at a private house with maid/cook, stocked bar (national drinks) and refrigerator.

Equipment Used: Our fleet of modern fishing boats comes fully equipped and stocked - ballyhoo filled bait coolers fully prepped by your crew; beer and soda stocked ice-chests; lunch and snacks on board; attentive crews constantly working with you, taking care of your rig, giving hints and local tricks to help you land the biggest game fish; highly experienced captains to guide you to the best fising grounds. For example the La Piraqua is equiped as follows: Twin 210 Twin 210 hp marine diesel Caterpillar engines power this boat. It is equipped with a depth finder, GPS, VHF radio, fish finder, compass, CD player, and head. Standard equipment includes: a fighting chair, 4 Penn rods with Shimano reels and 20lb. line, 1 special Marlin rod with reel and 50 lb. line, 2 spinning rods and reels with spinning tackle, outriggers. The bait is Ballyhoo and the hooks used are circle hooks.
Captain Manolo Díaz, with 10 years experience, runs this boat. This multiple award winner won a record in 2002 for bringing in a 225lb. Marlin on a fly rod and 15lb. tackle. It also placed third in the 2002 Presidential Challenge and 2nd in the 2004 Presidential Challenge, was beat out of 1st. by 30 minutes!

Deposit: To purchase a fishing charter package requires a deposit of 50% of the value of the package. Full payment is due 60 days before departure. All reservations made within 60 days of the departure date require full payment. If the final portion of the package price is not paid when required, The Great Sailfishing Company has the right to treat the reservation as cancelled. Payments are to be made via bank check, money order or bank wire transfer.
CANCELLATION POLICY Upon written receipt of cancellation notice, the following schedule will be charged and the following will be adhered to: 60 days or more before trip departure: $250.00. 45 to 59 days before departure: 25% of trip cost. 31 to 44 days before departure: 50% of trip cost. 15 to 30 days before departure: 75% of trip cost. Less then 15 days before departure: 100% of trip cost. Note: The Great Sailfishing Company advises the Purchaser to buy trip insurance to cover unexpected trip cancellations.
