The Dragonfly Lodge offers a unique fly-fishing adventure and guide service in the wilds of Patagonia, Chile. The vistas are saturated with glaciers, mountains, native forests, towering cliffs, and beautiful beaches! The water and the air are pure and the Brown and Rainbow Trout thrive abundantly. At the South-West side of South America, Chile stretches 3,500 miles from the tropics to Tierra del Fuego and is rarely more than 112 miles wide. The Andes mountain range towers the full length the country on the eastern border. From their snow-capped height, literally thousands of streams empty into the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. In Chile, trout fishing country spans more than 600 miles from the Lake Villarrica drainage at the north, all the way to Tierra del Fuego at the south end of the continent. The Rio Picacho is a tributary to the Rio Cisnes, a very famous fishery. The Lodge is located in the eleventh region of Chile “Aisén” and the Capital of this region is Coyhaique. Founded in 1929 Coyhaique is a frontier city with a population of 38,000. Most visitors arrive by air at the Balmaceda Airport or by ferry, continuing overland to Coyhaique.
