Welcome to Patagonia

Saving The World Fly Fishing Co. works with the finest guides and lodges available in Patagonia, Argentina.  We have partnered with Traful River Outfitters located in San Martin de los Andes to offer you this incredible trip.  Justin Spence (Co-Owner) and his wife Rachel also own a home in San Martin De Los Andes which means we are able to pay specific attention to every detail of your trip to Patagonia. We can do this because we have a base in both the United States as well as in Argentina.  We will greet you at the airport when you arrive and will introduce you to your guides, who are English speaking Argentine natives who are among the very best in the area

Location:
The town of San Martin is nestled in the Andes, over 1,000 miles southwest of Buenos Aires.  It sits on the shore of Lacar Lake and is inhabited by thirty thousand residents. San Martin offers first class restaurants, shopping, and lodging as well as terrific opportunities for hiking, birding, mountain biking, and even mountaineering.  The quiet little town is surrounded by both National Parks and large, private estancias (ranches) on which are found some of the most amazing trout waters in the world.  You can get to San Martin by air.  Daily flights leave Buenos Aires and fly into Chapelco Airport; a 15 minute drive from town.  We will be glad to help you arrange both the International and Domestic flight to Patagonia.

Inclusions:
Transportation from Chapelco Airport to the lodges, guides, all meals, drinks, lodging, laundry service, and the experience of a lifetime.

Accomodations:
Beautiful lodges with spectacular views and fishing.

Season:
In Patagonia, the fishing season typically runs from December through mid-April.  Located in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are the opposite of our seasons here in the states. January in Argentina is like June in the U.S.  Some of the most consistent fishing takes places during the mid-summer months of January and February when the weather is fairly warm, the rivers are in good shape, and hatches come off on a regular basis.  Early and late season fishing can be great, but weather and water conditions can be less predictable.

Equipment Used:
What to Bring:

Rod/Reel Outfits: 4-7 wt outfits will cover most of your fishing; we prefer faster action rods due to windy conditions.

Fly Lines:  Bring floating lines for your 4-6 wt rods and a good sink-tip (we like Rio 150-200 grain, 24 foot integrated shooting heads) for your 6 or 7 wt for fishing streamers.

Waders and boots:  Breathable waders and felt sole boots work well.  During summer months some prefer to wet wade.  A light pair of quick dry pants with wading boots or wading sandal works well.

Clothing: Bring a variety of clothing, good long underwear for under your waders, good merino wool type socks, windproof fleece and jackets, and a good waterproof breathable rain jacket.  Be prepared to layer your clothing as conditions often change throughout the day.  Hats, gloves, and other warm gear become more important during late-March and April.

Flies:  A standard assortment of dry flies, nymphs, and streamers are important.  Guides will provide special patterns in addition to those you bring. We will email you a list of the best patterns once we determine your itinerary.

Rates:
Because we have access to numerous ranches, we are able to plan your trip to take advantage of the best fishing opportunities in the region.  We take into consideration the timing of your trip and the type of fishing you prefer, and then organize your trip accordingly. Every trip is customized to meet your specific angling desires.

The 2 lodge, 7 night/6 ½ day fishing program is $650 per person/ per night.

Bookings should be made well in advance as we typically fill up fast.

Deposit:
We require a 50% deposit per person to secure reservations. Deposit is non-refundable unless a replacement is found.  Final payment is required 2 months prior to your departure date.  You may consider buying additional trip insurance being that deposits are non-refundable!

Documentation required:
A valid passport is required to travel into Argentina.
