Pelican Bay bonefish (click image for detail) |
This Dream Fly Fishing Trip provides the angler with the rare opportunity to fish the productive flats of the Bahamas for bonefish with potential shots at tarpon and permit and make a short run offshore to fish for yellowfin tuna and dolphin/dorado. The flats are rarely influenced by weather offshore and the offshore conditions are typically flat in late May. This makes it easy to spot the bird schools working above marauding tuna or dolphin.
Tentative Dates: Arrive: May 24, 2007 through May 30, 2007
Informal Fly tying and knot tying demonstrations available for those interested. Ready Head kits will be available to tie offshore patterns without using epoxy!

Nearby activities and attractions: Fishing 6 trips in 5 days will tire the hardiest of anglers. The following information is a menu of potential opportunities for non-anglers. If you choose to bring your spouse, family or close friends, there are many other activities to keep them busy. The Pelican Bay unique fishing experience allows anglers to experience world-class bonefishing and offshore flyfishing with luxuray living and ease of access to a myriad of non-angling activities.
There are shops and restaurants located in the Port Lucaya Marketplace within 5 minute walking distance from resort.
Outdoor activities for the non-angler include:
Swimming with dolphins; Golfing; Dive trips; Sea Kayaking; and other water related sports.
Season: Anticipated Dates: May 24 - 30, 2007
The exact week depends on how quick the trip fills and we can lock in the week of May 24 - 30, 2007. Equipment Used: BONEFISHING:
Anglers should supply their own bonefishing fly equipment. If they do not have their own, bonefishing equipment available for rent.
Suggested fly gear are 7 and 8 weight outfits with floating line to fish the shallow flats.
OFFSHORE FISHING: (provided by charter)
If you choose to bring your own equipment, the following is suggested:
10 weight outfit for dolphin and small tuna with a floating line;
12 and 14 weights for larger dolphin and yellowfin tuna with intermediate sink or clear ghost tip lines and a floating line. Reels should have a reliable and smooth drag and capable of holding over 250 yards backing for the 12-weight and 400 yards backing for the 14-weight outfits.
Rates: The cost of the trip is $3,310 per person, double occupancy.
Additional offshore trips for additional cost can be reserved ahead of the trip. It is highly recommended to partner with 1 or 2 other anglers to share the cost of the additional trip and to give your arms and back a rest between tuna.
If an angler brings a non-fishing guest, then there is an extra charge for the room since it is not available for the double occupancy of anglers. Deposit: A 50% deposit of $1,655 is required at time of booking. Deposits are due by October 31, 2006. There are 7 slots available for this trip and I hope to fill the trip by late Fall, 2006 in order to reserve the week of May 24 - 30, 2007. Documentation required: PASSPORT required by the U.S. Immigration to return to the United States.
Passports applications are easily obtained through the U.S. Post Office and it is suggested you initiate this process as soon as you decide to join the trip.
